For Princess. Medium swing big band arrangement of a Joe LaRosa tune. 5-4-4 p/g/b/d.

In The Midnight Hour (vocal, 4 horns, p/b/d).. Classic Wilson Pickett tune arranged for bands with horns (trumpet, alto, tenor, and trombone). Easy horn parts that add a big kick to the ensemble.
It's De-Lovely. Swinging big band vocal chart (5/3/3) for female vocalist. Vocal ranges only to an F. Nice rendition that features all the sections and keeps the energy going from the first downbeat to the last (4'59" duration, optional ad lib solos).
Killer Joe. For big band (5-4-4), featuring a cool, laid back setting and room for a trumpet solo. Commissioned by the York College Jazz Band for 2008. 152 measures, duration 5'57".

Moonlight In Vermont (Orchestra with vocal solo).. A standard gem arranged for full orchestra (double winds, percussion and strings) with alto vocal solo. Doesn't stray far from the original setting and provides a lovely vehicle for the vocalist. This version commissioned for the 2008 summer season by the Newburgh Symphony.
National Anthem (The Star Spangled Banner). Scored for pep band, and can be easily adapted for marching band or jazz combo. This setting was commissioned by the Fresno Pacific University pep band for their 2007-2008 season.

Night In Tunisia. For jazz ensemble. ensemble. This arrangement was commissioned by Nashua (New Hampshire) High School.
O Come O Come Emmanuel. For flute, saxes, and vocals with rhythm section. This arrangement was commissioned by Fresno Pacific University.
O Sole Mio. Easy vocal chart (Italian lyrics, key of G) for three to twelve players -- the same arrangement works as well with a trio as a big band. This arrangement was commissioned by the outstanding Italian performer Ugo Paliotto.
Oye Como Va. Scored for combo (trumpet, alto, tenor, trombone, piano/bass/drums). Easy arrangement of the hit made popular by Carlos Santano, originally composed by Tito Puento.
Portrait of Scotland. For solo classical guitar. Composed for the Dundee Guitar Festival, Dundee Scotland. Featured at Carnegie-Mellon University's "100% Centennial" exposition, 2007.
Requiem Aeternam. For SATB choir a capella.
Second Suite For Band. Full concert band arrangement commissioned by Joseph LaRosa. In the style of Copland's Fanfare for the Common Man, requires only minimal instrumentation. 8'14" duration, 278 measures. Trumpet 1 to high D.
(The) Shadow Of Your Smile. Nice compact arrangement for trumpet, trombone, optional flute, piano/bass/drums. Features trombone on the melody, ad lib solos for flute, trumpet and trombone. This version commissioned by Paul Peyton for his combo.
Silly. For jazz big band (5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano/guitar/bass/drums. This is a sample of how I can turn a leadsheet (for example, an original tune you came up with) into a full band arrangement. "Silly" is a tune submitted (and copyrighted) by Joe LaRosa.

Star Spangled Banner - Jazz vocal version. Scored for a capella voices (SAATTBB), this is version uses tight vocal harmonies to make a poignant setting for our national anthem, beginning in 4/4 with the bridge in 3/4. A challenging vocal piece well worth the effort. Soprano to high Bb. Commissioned by the Lake Effect Chorus in 2008.
Sugar (Jazz Orchestra). For jazz orchestra. This arrangement was commissioned by the Carolina Cool Jazz Orchestra.
Sweet Georgia Brown. For jazz orchestra with jazz violin solo. This arrangement was commissioned by the Carolina Cool Jazz Orchestra.
That's Life. For jazz combo with vocals. Arranged for Joe Harrington's 2008 cruise ship show.
We Left Our Wives Polka. For polka band.
Watermelon Man (trumpet, alto, tenor, trombone, piano, bass, drums). For jazz combo in a style that keeps the Herbie Hancock feel. Medium difficulty on all parts, solo space for all instruments.
Work Song (flute-optional, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, drums). For jazz combo with or without flute. Tight ensemble piece with a medium difficulty level. This arrangement was commissioned by the Paul Peyton for his swinging jazz combo.
Why Don't You Do Right?. Very slick arrangement for vocal and jazz combo (piano, bass, drums, trumpet, alto, tenor, trombone). Just the right touch of nostalgia and irony, not too hard on the horns.
You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To. New arrangement for jazz combo (piano, bass, drums, trumpet, trombone, optional flute). Tightly written piece with a nice 3/4 break and solo space for all (written "suggested" solo and chord symbols provided). Written for Paul Peyton's "Small Combo With a Big Sound."
